Indonesia is the largest archipelago country in the world, consisting of nearly 20,000 islands, but the most fascinating thing about Indonesia is the active volcanoes. Three of the ten active volcanoes in the world are concentrated here.

So we often hear about this country or a volcanic eruption or an earthquake on the news.

As the world's largest archipelagic nation, Indonesia is facing a series of geological upheavals on the Pacific Ring of Fire (the Pacific Basin, an arc of volcanic and undersea faults). Of all these volcanoes in Indonesia, the most famous is Mount Bromo.

Mount Bromo is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, which covers 800 square kilometers in the center of East Java, and is about a four-hour drive from the East Java capital, Surabaya.

Although Mount Bromo is relatively small compared to other volcanoes in Indonesia, its beautiful scenery and majestic sights will never let you down. At 2,392 meters above sea level, Mount Bromo isn't the tallest volcano, but it's amazing.

Bromo is an active volcano, and it erupts from time to time as if it were a demonstration. The villagers here believe that there is a volcano god.

The name of the volcano god is Brahma, and the eruption of the volcano is the wrath of Brahma, so the villagers are quite in awe of this volcano.

The Tengger indigenous people believe this is the place where a brave prince sacrificed his life for his family. At the annual Kasada festival, they throw vegetables, chickens, and money into the crater to worship the supreme god.

But when you walk into Mount Bromo, you don't feel so scary either. Especially when you step on the hinterland of the volcano, you will feel a different kind of magnificence.

Bromo Volcano is surrounded by a kind of smoke all year round, coupled with the green forest and grassland farmland around the volcano, it is not too much to describe the scenery here with the word "Wonderland".

From a distance, Brahma looks like a big black bowl. Above the big bowl, a bunch of yellow smoke columns dances recklessly in the breeze, and the whole air is filled with the smell of sulfur.

The sunrise over the volcano is the most spectacular. Just at the lookout point of Mount Penanjakan (2,770 meters above sea level, 2.5 hours from Malang), tourists from all over the world watch the sunrise over Mount Bromo.

The view from here is so stunning. You can hear the tourists' cameras blaring incessantly, taking pictures of the perfect Bromo, the cavernous smoke of Semeru rising into the sky, and the sun shining brightly.

If you want to see the sunrise, you need to leave at three or four in the morning, when the temperature is very low, it is best to wear a down jacket.

Climb the more than 200 stone steps on the wall of the giant bowl, and you will stand on the edge of the giant bowl of this mysterious crater and feel the crater that will erupt again at some moment.

The power of nature is beyond the reach of human beings.

People throw a bouquet or a chicken and other animals into the crater to comfort the mountain god and pray to the mountain god. After the sacrifice, the sun gradually shot out its first golden light, and then the fiery red sun instantly plated Mount Bromo into a golden mountain, which is really majestic and beautiful.
