<b>Best way to visit:</b> The best way to explore is by hopping in the car and driving the Crater Lake Rim Drive, renowned as one of America's most scenic byways. Usually, the route is accessible from July until mid-October.


<b>Guide Tip:</b> Drive clockwise so the pullouts are on your right for easier parking, and arrive early in the morning to avoid the crowds.


<b>Recommended sites:</b> Watchman Overlook, Cloudcap Overlook, Pumice Castle Overlook, Phantom Ship Overlook, Vidae Falls.



<b>Where to Camp:</b> Lost Creek Campground and Mazama Campground.


Mazama Campground is located seven miles south of Rim Village, right past the southern entrance to the park. It closes in the winter and bookings are accepted online. Campsite prices range from $21 for a tent site to $42 for an RV site with full hookups.


For $5 per night, Lost Creek provides basic, tent-only campsites without wood stoves, potable water, or showers. These locations only offer portable restrooms; reservations are not accepted.


<b>Tips:</b> Backcountry camping requires a permit year-round. The ranger station at the park headquarters is where permits must be picked up in person.

<b>Guide Tip:</b> Wear supportive hiking boots, dress in layers in case of cold or bad weather, and pack water, snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a camera or smartphone to record the memories.


<b>Stay Recommendations:</b> Crater Lake Lodge is well located in the center of Rim Village and has breathtaking lake views from its front entrance. Many rooms overlook the water, and the lodge also features a restaurant.
