Hello, dear Lykkers!

Planning a family day trip, but don't know where to go?

Port Campbell National Park is the best option! This beautiful park along the Great Ocean Road is perfect for a fun-filled day with the kids.

With stunning coastal views, easy trails, and fantastic picnic spots, it promises an unforgettable outdoor experience.

1. Gibson Steps

The Gibson Steps trail is a short, 1-kilometer round trip that takes about 30 minutes to complete, perfect for all fitness levels. This easy trail leads you down to the beach via 86 carved wooden steps, making it manageable even for little legs.

The entrance is just a short drive west of the Twelve Apostles Visitor Center. To enjoy the place with the lesser crowd we suggest going to spring and autumn, which also present mild weather. Along the way, enjoy the stunning limestone cliffs and the pristine beach below, offering a unique view of the Twelve Apostles and a great chance for kids to learn about coastal geology.

2. Loch Ard Gorge Walk

This easy, well-marked trail is perfect for families, with several short walks leading to different viewpoints. Each stop has interpretive signs that tell the dramatic story of the shipwreck named the Gorge. The trail is 1.4 kilometers and can be completed in about 45 minutes.

Mostly flat and stroller-friendly, it’s a stress-free adventure for parents. Start from the Loch Ard Gorge car park, which is well-signposted. Late spring and early summer are the best times to visit, with wildflowers in bloom adding to the scenic beauty.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a bit longer trails, here are 2 slightly longer trails, but don't worry, they are still perfect for families with children!

3. Razorback Walk

The walk is an easy, breezy 1.4-kilometer loop with well-kept paths and gentle slopes. Start at the Loch Ard Gorge car park where several trails begin—just follow the signs! It takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete.

Spring and autumn are perfect times to visit, with mild weather adding to the charm. Along the way, don't miss the stunning Razorback Formation, a jagged limestone ridge that's a photographer's dream and a fascinating example of coastal erosion.

4. Muttonbird Island Lookout Walk

This trail is an easy 2-kilometer round trip, perfect for a 1 to 1.5-hour stroll. Start your adventure at the Twelve Apostles Visitor Center. The path, a mix of boardwalk and gravel, is family-friendly and easy to follow.

Late spring to early summer is the ideal time to visit—you might even spot nesting muttonbirds (shearwaters). Don’t miss the stunning panoramic views of the Twelve Apostles and the coastline, which are especially magical at sunrise or sunset.

Port Campbell National Park is a fantastic destination for a family day out thanks to its easy trails, picturesque photo spots, and stunning natural beauty.

Enjoy your time, breathe the fresh breeze, kiss your children, and see you next time, Lykkers!
